The Kyoto iGEM Team competed in the 2023 Grand Jamboree, with over 5000 onsite attendees and 400 international Teams participating.
Their project, “Avoider” aimed to engineer E.coli to continuously proliferate and emit odorants that repel deer to reduce agricultural damage and mitigate food shortage.
Kyoto won a Gold Medal for their efforts, and were nominees in 3 categories, including Best Agriculture Project, Best Wiki, and Best Hardware!
