Dr. Woltjen lectures about Gene Editing applications in iPS cells at JSSF2014

The Japan Super Science Fair (JSSF) gathers high school students from diverse backgrounds with a strong desire to contribute to the world and pursue their dreams. The JSSF is hosted by Ritsumeikan High School, which was designated as a Super Science High School by MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) for 23 consecutive years since the first year of the government initiative.

About 120 international students and 120 domestic students from 21 countries and regions around the world were divided into three groups based on their interests. Dr. Woltjen was an invited lecturer for one of the groups, and talked about human development, the origin and application of iPS cells, the central dogma of molecular biology, CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing and its applications in iPS cell therapies.
